SUMMARY:Workshop: Handgripligt
LOCATION:Armémuseum\, Riddargatan 13\, 114 51 Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:Patch & mend with Matsson Marnell\n\nIn this workshop\, you c
an try different techniques and learn to mend and reinforce textiles with
patches\, embroidery and visible mending. A repair can both extend a gar
ment’s life and become a form of creative expression.\n\nTaking care of
what we have – such as being able to mend and care for our clothes –
is a natural part of emergency preparedness and has been an important pa
rt of everyday life throughout history. Resources have often been limited
in the past\, not just during crises and wars. Even today\, mending is a
practical skill that can contribute to both sustainability and greater p
reparedness.\n\nTogether\, we explore how mending can be both a practical
skill and a form of creative expression\, and how crafts and practical s
kills can strengthen the resilience of both individuals and society. The
workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with previous experie
nce. No prior knowledge is needed.\n\nThe workshop is led by Magda Marnel
l from the design studio Matsson Marnell. The studio works at the interse
ction between art\, design and craft\, with a focus on reuse\, natural ma
terials and circular ways of working.\n\nMaterials\, refreshments and adm
ission to the museum are included in the ticket. Places are limited.
