DESCRIPTION:During this two-day course\, you will explore traditional Jap
 anese crafts in depth and work with authentic materials from Japan.\n\nIn
  the first session\, a kimono made from woven Japanese textiles from the 
 Meiji period is studied and taken apart.\n\nYou will then be introduced t
 o the Japanese technique of backing fabric with paper to make bookcloth\,
  in which fabric is glued to paper to create a durable and beautiful mate
 rial.\n\nIn the second session\, you will use the finished bookcloth to m
 ake your own thread box using Japanese origami techniques.\n\nTraditional
  Japanese tools and materials are used throughout the course.\n\nCourse t
