SUMMARY:FN-dagen – Bortglömda konflikter
LOCATION:ABF-huset\, Sveavägen 41\, Sveavägen 41\, 11183 Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:Whose crises are seen\, and whose are forgotten?\n\nOn United
Nations Day\, we invite you to an afternoon exploring conflict\, solidar
ity\, media attention and paths to peace. Together with journalists\, res
earchers\, human rights advocates and voices from civil society\, we exam
ine why some crises make headlines around the world while others remain a
lmost invisible.\n\nThe day opens with a keynote conversation about the U
N’s role at a time of growing conflict\, and the kind of leadership nee
ded in a troubled world. This is followed by talks drawing on recent expe
 rience from\, among other things\, Haiti\, global health\, humanitarian e
fforts and international reporting.\n\nA joint panel discussion will addr
ess questions such as: What determines which conflicts receive media atte
ntion? How does that attention affect opportunities for support and peace
building? And how can international efforts strengthen\, rather than repl
ace\, the expertise already present among people on the ground?\n\nThe af
ternoon concludes with an open workshop where the audience and contributo
rs reflect together on the significance of the UN today and the questions
about the future that require our shared commitment.\n\nParticipants inc
lude an Africa correspondent\, a researcher in global health\, a represen
tative of civil society and a steward of Dag Hammarskjöld’s legacy. To
gether\, they offer different perspectives on the conflicts\, crises and
opportunities for peace of our time.\n\nParticipants:\n\nMona Ismail Jama
