DESCRIPTION:Noh theatre: Talk and demonstration\n\nNoh theatre is a Japan
 ese theatrical style that has been performed since the 14th century and w
 as inscribed on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural
  Heritage of Humanity in 2008. Noh is a highly stylised and refined perfo
 rming art that combines singing\, dancing\, musical accompaniment\, and t
 he use of masks and elegant costumes. It is a theatrical form that requir
 es highly trained actors and musicians and has been passed down from gene
 ration to generation.\n\nThis evening’s talk and demonstration will pro
 vide an understanding of the origins and history of this theatrical form.
  Helga Janse\, Japan curator at the National Museums of World Culture\, w
 ill introduce the museum’s collection of Noh masks\, and we will see ho
 w masks\, fans and costumes are used in Noh. There will also be a demonst
 ration of Noh dance\, with an opportunity to ask questions.\n\nThe perfor
 mers are from Kyoto and are led by Michiharu Wakebayashi.\n\nThe speakers
