SUMMARY:Palestina 36
LOCATION:Bagarmossens Folkets Hus\, Lillåvägen 44\, 128 45 Bagarmossen
DESCRIPTION:See Palestine’s Oscar entry at Södra Sthlm Filmfest!\n\nTo
understand what is happening today\, we need to know how it all began.\n
\nThe year is 1936\, and Palestine is under British colonial rule. The fa
rmer’s son Yusuf dreams of a freer future\, but is torn between his hom
e village and life in Jerusalem. As the British Empire tightens its grip
and Jewish immigration increases\, anxiety and resistance grow among the
Palestinian population. The conflict soon escalates into a confrontation
that will have decisive consequences\, not only for Yusuf but for the fut
ure of the entire country.\n\nAnnemarie Jacir combines powerful emotions
with intimate details in a historical ensemble drama set during the Briti
sh Mandate in Palestine\, starring Jeremy Irons and Hiam Abbas.\n\nSee th
