SUMMARY:Taiko för barn – Prova på japanskt trumspel!
LOCATION:Östasiastiska museet\, Tyghusplan\, 111 49 Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:Would you like to experience the powerful sound and energy of
Japanese Taiko drumming?\n\nIn Japanese festival culture\, Taiko is some
thing everyone can take part in – children and adults\, beginners and e
xperienced players. No musical experience is needed\, and beginners are v
ery welcome! This workshop is adapted for children\, but there is no stri
ct age limit. Children need to be able to follow simple instructions in E
nglish and take part in a group (e.g. play\, stop\, wait and take turns).
Please note that the workshop is in English.\n\nTaiko is about much more
than just hitting a drum. It is about bringing together rhythm\, body\,
mind and the people around us.\n\nDuring this two-hour workshop\, childre
n will explore the basics of Japanese Taiko through movement\, rhythm and
group activities. Taiko engages the whole body\, and we learn how to use
our bodies naturally to create powerful\, energetic sounds.\n\nBut Taiko
is also something we do together. We listen to one another\, communicate
through rhythm and discover how our individual sounds can become part of
something bigger. By playing together\, children can naturally develop t
eamwork skills\, coordination and connections with others.\n\nAnd of cour
se – Taiko is powerful\, energetic and fun! Creating a really big sound
can be a fantastic way to express yourself\, build confidence and dare t
o take up a little more space.
