SUMMARY:Pianoafton med Bobo Stenson
LOCATION:Sibeliussalen\, Snickarbacken 4\, 111 83 Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:Musical spaciousness and melodic lyricism characterise this c
oncert with one of the greatest icons of Swedish jazz. In the finely tune
d acoustics of Sibeliussalen\, Bobo Stenson invites the audience on a per
sonal journey at our Steingraeber grand piano. Expect an intimate evening
where the boundaries between Nordic jazz\, Latin American sounds and cla
 ssical music blur.\n\nProgramme:\n\nOver the evening’s two sets\, the r
epertoire moves freely between different genres. The audience can enjoy e
verything from Duke Ellington to the Latin American tradition\, with comp
osers such as the Argentine Ariel Ramírez and the Cuban Silvio Rodrígue
 z. Classical music also provides some of the landmarks\, including a twel
ve-tone psalm by composer Sven-Erik Bäck and a piece from Leoš Janáče
k’s suite ”På en övervuxen stig”.\n\nBobo Stenson\, born in Väst
erås in 1944\, had classical piano lessons from the age of seven\, but h
is interest in jazz was awakened in his teens.. He played at Blue Note in
Paris and toured Germany. During the 1970s he worked with Jan Garbarek a
nd founded the group Rena Rama. Stenson has collaborated with Charles Llo
yd\, Stan Getz and Tomasz Stanko. His trio\, now with Anders Jormin and J
on Fält\, has been active for decades. He is a member of the Royal Swedi
sh Academy of Music and has been awarded Litteris et Artibus.\n\npianovis
