SUMMARY:Shonen Knife
LOCATION:Debaser Strand\, Hornstulls strand 4\, 117 39 Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:With over 40 years of infectious pop-punk\, irresistible melo
dies and a joy in playing that never seems to fade\, Shonen Knife have in
spired greats such as Sonic Youth and Nirvana. Now we are proud to welcom
e the Japanese cult trio back to Debaser!\n\n“When I finally got to see
  them live\, I turned into a hysterical nine-year-old girl at a Beatles c
oncert.” – Kurt Cobain\n\nThe Osaka group Shonen Knife was formed in
1981 by sisters Naoko and Atsuko. Long before terms such as “riot grrrl
” and “girl rock” had become part of the music world’s vocabulary
\, the female trio were breaking guitar strings to the sound of Ramones c
overs.\n\nLike the Japanese cult band The 5\,6\,7\,8s\, Shonen Knife have
survived decades of musical trends and changes by sticking to what they
do best: delivering their own irresistible blend of joyful pop-punk.\n\nI
n their more than 40 years as a band\, they may not have filled any arena
s\, but their influence on alternative rock has been enormous. Both Sonic
Youth and Nirvana have singled them out as an important source of inspir
ation\, among others.\n\nDespite countless years on tour\, their joy in p
laying is still just as infectious. Live\, they take audiences on a deep
dive into an extensive song catalogue that ranges from hard\, intense roc
k to infectious pop melodies.\n\nA large part of Shonen Knife’s charm l
ies in their disarming and often slightly surreal way of interpreting the
ir punk and rock influences. And with song titles such as Tortoise Brand
 Pot Cleaner\, it is hard…
