SUMMARY:BCUC
LOCATION:Debaser Strand\, Hornstulls strand 4\, 11739 Stockholm
DESCRIPTION:For over two decades\, BCUC (Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousne
ss) from Soweto have channelled a powerful and uncompromising sound\, ble
nding funk\, the consciousness of hip-hop and the intensity of punk into
something entirely their own. Their mantra\, “music for the people\, by
the people\, with the people”\, comes to life in performances that fee
l as much like spiritual ceremonies as concerts.\n\nFrom starting out reh
earsing in a shipping container to commanding stages at Glastonbury Festi
 val\, Roskilde Festival\, WOMAD and Afropunk\, BCUC have built a global r
eputation as an exceptional live band.\n\nTheir latest album\, The Road I
s Never Easy\, captures their Afro-psychedelic journey into the soul of S
oweto: a raw\, emotional and deeply human portrayal of struggle\, resilie
nce and hope. On stage\, that energy becomes impossible to resist\, and i
t is coming to Debaser Strand on 22 October.
