DESCRIPTION:Join us for the launch of Museer och omstridda kulturarv with
  Fedir Androshchuk\, former director of Nationalmuseet för Ukrainas hist
 oria in Kyiv. In the book\, Androshchuk examines the role of cultural her
 itage in shaping national identity and how history and museums can be use
 d and misused in political propaganda.\n\nWhen Russia launched its full-s
 cale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022\, Androshchuk was effectively f
 orced to move into the museum to save its collections. Against the backdr
 op of the invasion\, he conducted the research project Sverige och Ukrain
 a i museal samlingshistoria och utställningsnarrativ at Statens historis
 ka museer from 2023 to 2025. The project and the book were funded by Tors
 ten Söderbergs Stiftelse.\n\nDrawing on both Ukraine and Sweden\, Andros
 hchuk sheds light on their shared cultural heritage and describes how mus
 eum staff have contributed to knowledge of the two countries’ history a
 nd culture.\n\nFedir Androshchuk holds a PhD in archaeology. In 2023\, he
  was awarded the European Archaeological Heritage Prize “for his outsta
 nding efforts to protect Ukraine’s archaeological heritage\, raise awar
 eness and safeguard collections during wartime.
