DESCRIPTION:Patchouli is one of the most storied raw materials in the per
 fume industry\, with a long history stretching from the 19th-century silk
  trade to the psychedelic hippie movement. Today\, despite its sometimes 
 polarising scent\, it is an indispensable ingredient in a wide range of c
 ontemporary and historical perfumes.\n\nIn this lecture\, you will learn 
 all about the history of patchouli\, as well as how it is grown and used 
 in the perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw mate
 rial producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF\, we will smell both raw
  materials and isolated fragrance molecules\, alongside contemporary perf
 umes from Nordiska Kompaniet.\n\nVictor Langer is an art and perfume hist
 orian who has previously lectured at Nationalmuseum\, Beckmans designhög
 skola and Lunds universitet\, among other institutions.
