DESCRIPTION:Vanilla is synonymous with sweetness\, warmth and desire\, bu
 t also with Western colonialism and industrial innovation. In the perfume
 r’s palette\, it is perhaps the most universally loved raw material\, w
 ith a long history stretching from its country of origin\, Mexico\, to 19
 th-century Germany via Madagascar.\n\nIn this lecture\, you will learn al
 l about the history of vanilla\, as well as how it is grown and used in t
 he perfume industry. In collaboration with the world-leading raw material
  producers Laboratoire Monique Rémy and IFF\, we will smell both raw mat
 erials and isolated fragrance molecules\, alongside contemporary perfumes
  from Nordiska Kompaniet.\n\nVictor Langer is an art and perfume historia
 n who has previously given lectures at Nationalmuseum\, Beckmans designh
 ögskola and Lunds universitet\, among other institutions.
