Mum, I'm Alien Pregnant
TENTACLES, ALIEN SLIME AND AN UNWANTED PREGNANCY Mary (Hannah Lynch) is a slacker who still lives at home with her mum.
An absurd encounter with the new neighbour – a guy with a tentacle-like alien sex organ – leads to an alien conception and a pregnancy that accelerates at a furious pace. The doctors don't believe her and the father is useless. Her mum (Yvette Parsons) is so supportive that it almost only makes things worse. Her body transforms, slime sprays everywhere and something that doesn't belong there is growing inside her.
The duo THUNDERLIPS (Sean Wallace & Jordan Mark Windsor) take up the New Zealand tradition of messy but warm-hearted genre humour and drive it straight into body horror territory. The result is a film that is both disgusting and tender, both laughable and uncomfortably perceptive about the bodily chaos of pregnancy, medical gaslighting and the impossible limitations of family. Mum I’m Alien Pregnant had its world premiere at Sundance Midnight 2026 and has won the award for Best First Feature at Fantasia.
Practical effects, tentacles, copious amounts of alien slime and a surprisingly big heart make this a truly unique film about parenthood. This is a film for those who like early Peter Jackson and other equally tasteful films.
Bring tissues and perhaps a dry top, because things are going to get seriously slimy.
