Truly Naked
WHAT IS IT LIKE TO HAVE A DAD WHO MAKES PORN? Alec is a quiet teenager who sees the world through a camera lens. His dad Dylan runs a small-scale porn film production business from the living room at home – and Alec works for his dad in his spare time.
He films, edits and manages the website. When they are forced to move to a sleepy coastal town, he hopes for a fresh start. There he meets Nina. She is sharp, independent and has a view of desire and closeness unlike anything Alec has ever encountered.
Muriel d’Ansembourg’s feature film debut is explicit without being sensationalist. A coming-of-age film about the difference between staged sex and real intimacy. It portrays the porn industry directly, with curiosity and without judgement. One of the roles is played by porn actress (Alessa Savage), who also served as an adviser on the production.
Truly Naked is more about shame, longing and the fragile connection between two people than about judging the industry. As Muriel d’Ansembourg herself describes the film:
“This is not primarily about porn. It is about intimacy – and intimacy is much scarier.”
