Nightborn

MOTHERHOOD AS A MONSTER

Saga and her British husband Jon move to her run-down family farm deep in the Finnish forests to start a family. But the child born to them is no ordinary baby – gradually, Saga is overcome by a frightening sense that there is something strange about this demanding child. It is a hairy, bloodsucking creature that destroys their marriage and their lives. Postnatal depression in the form of pure body horror.

Hanna Bergholm follows up her hit Ruva with an even more extreme and gory tale of the dark sides of parenthood. Seidi Haarla is phenomenal, and Rupert Grint takes on one of his most interesting roles in a long time. The film competed for the Golden Bear at Berlinale 2026. Dark, bloody and with black humour that hits the mark.
