Livrustkammaren, Stockholm
Afternoon tea: I kunglig tjänst
Enjoy a royal afternoon tea in Stensalen with views of Kungliga Slottet. Grillska Huset lays out a classic buffet with warm scones and bread served with homemade lemon curd, marmalade, cheese and cream.
Then come delicious treats from the bakery, including mummor cakes, meringues, biscuits, kärleksmums cakes and other delights.
Livrustkammaren’s new, colourful exhibition I kunglig tjänst offers an insight into life at court. Surrounding the royals were several hundred men and women, ready to serve, attend to them and provide a grand setting for the monarchy. The court was their workplace, and in everyday life, at celebrations and during ceremonies, they made sure the royal machinery ran smoothly.
In the exhibition, you will meet some of these servants through the traces they left behind in Livrustkammaren. On display are several unique and colourful liveries – uniforms in the colours of the royal dynasty or the realm – as well as portraits, partisans, jousting armour, silver trumpets, the national costume and much more.
You will also get to see Duchess Hedvig Elisabet Charlotta’s spectacular wedding dress, while her letters and diaries offer invaluable accounts of life at court.
