Workshop: Sashiko
Come and discover the world of Sashiko stitching at Östasiatiska museet! Sashiko is a sewing technique that was mainly used by Japanese farmers to mend clothes and textiles. Today, it has a distinctive style of its own and is popular around the world.
During the course, you will explore the museum’s brand-new Sashiko exhibition with the course leader, learn about the history of sashiko, and then delve into its various stitching techniques and rich patterns.
All materials are provided, but you are very welcome to bring your own garments to try out your newly acquired skills on!
