Möt författaren Ece Temelkuran
The Turkish author and journalist Ece Temelkuran is heading to Bokmässan in Gothenburg, but is making a detour to ABF-huset in Stockholm.
Ece Temelkuran is one of the most prominent voices of our time on democracy, belonging and identity. To mark her new book Främlingsnationen, she joins Karin Pettersson, culture editor at Aftonbladet, for a conversation about exile, migration and the human need to belong somewhere.
Ece Temelkuran was forced to leave Turkey after openly criticising President Erdoğan and the country's authoritarian turn. Since then, she has lived in several different countries and cities, an experience that shapes both her life and her writing. As a journalist, novelist and essayist, she has become an internationally recognised voice on democracy, nationalism and the political changes of our time. Many know her through books such as How to Lose a Country and Together.
In Främlingsnationen, she explores what it means to live between places, languages and identities. As more and more people move, are forced to flee or seek a new life elsewhere, broader questions also arise: What really makes a home? Where do we belong? And how do we build a sense of community in a time marked by upheaval?
Together with Karin Pettersson, Ece Temelkuran delves into the book's themes and the questions shaping our times. The conversation will explore nationalism and migration, but also hope, connection and the human longing to belong.
Organised by ABF Stockholm in collaboration with Ordfront förlag.
