Sense and Sensibility

Georgia Oakley brings Jane Austen’s classic to the screen in a new adaptation focusing on love, family, financial insecurity and, above all, sisterhood.

When Mr Dashwood dies, his wife and three daughters are left in a precarious financial situation. The family is forced to leave their home and start afresh, while sisters Elinor and Marianne try to navigate love, grief and the expectations placed on them in early 19th-century England.

The thoughtful Elinor tries to keep her feelings for Edward Ferrars under control, while the more impulsive Marianne is drawn to the charming John Willoughby. Despite their different approaches to life and love, the relationship between the sisters becomes the heart of the story, as both are forced to reconsider what they really want and what they are prepared to risk for it.
