Henric Hammarbäck has always been country. Drawing on the American songwriting tradition, often with Dallas Frazier as one of his guiding lights, Hammarbäck has renovated his home in Telefonplan to become the Music Row of Stockholm’s southern suburbs. His debut album Broken Live On demonstrated considerable craftsmanship and musical assurance, earning praise from both Jan Gradvall in Dagens Industri and Kyle ”Trigger” Coroneos in the respected publication Saving Country Music. The latter went so far as to mention perhaps country music’s most revered figure, Hank Williams, in the same breath as H. Self. The follow-up, Country Songs, was released in 2023. It was an album praised by both the press and a devoted audience. Country Songs reflects the life behind the lyrics in a distinctive way, allowing the stories to be told as they are, without embellishment. The musical backing features elements of traditional country, but without being entirely bound by the genre’s conventions.

Now it’s almost time for Henric to release his new album Vet hut. And when you release an album, you throw a party – that’s how it’s always been. And if you’re going to have a party, you have it at Slaktkyrkan. Simple as that.
