Boksamtal med Amat Levin, Salla och Masse Salazar
When The Latin Kings broke through with Välkommen till förorten in 1994, Swedish music changed. Suddenly, a Sweden that had long existed, but had rarely been given a voice in public life, could be heard.
Brothers Salla and Masse Salazar grew up in northern Botkyrka after their family fled Pinochet’s Chile. From The Latin Kings and the 1990s hip-hop explosion to Redline Records and the studio that has nurtured generations of Swedish artists, they have been at the heart of the development of Swedish hip-hop.
In Mejor Futuro, written together with author Amat Levin, they talk about music, family, conflicts and the drive to make room for new voices. But also about a Sweden that has changed along the way.
Meet Amat Levin, Salla Salazar and Masse Salazar for a conversation led by a moderator about three decades of Swedish hip-hop, class and segregation, success and resistance. About how music from the margins became Swedish popular culture – and how two brothers from Botkyrka helped shape both the sound and the story of the new Sweden.
The book will be on sale during the evening, with the opportunity to have it signed.
