En hyllning till Olle Adolphson

A warm welcome to a concert where four of the brightest young stars on Sweden’s folk-song scene – William Sundman Sääf, Jenny Almsenius, Kim Persson and William Bülow O´Nils – take on Olle’s rich and multifaceted songbook.

It will be a concert that moves along the boundary between tradition and renewal, with the lyrics and melodies performed with deep respect for Olle’s original spirit, but also in fresh, contemporary and personal reinterpretations.

Olle Adolphson’s musical world encompassed everything, and this evening promises the full emotional spectrum. The audience will encounter life-affirming, exuberant and humorous songs, as well as weighty, dark stories about human failings and the darker aspects of existence.

There will be mostly songs by Olle, but also by Bellman, Taube and Ruben Nilsson, giants of Swedish song whom Olle himself loved and interpreted throughout his long career. How do they speak to one another? And what do they have to say to us today?

About the performers:

William Sundman Sääf - Has achieved great success with his videos from Stockholm’s underground, opened for Håkan Hellström and sold out Södra teatern. Interpreter of Bellman and songwriter.

Jenny Almsenius – Recently received the Royal Swedish Academy of Music’s prestigious Olle Adolphson Scholarship and is much in the spotlight following her appearance in David Ritschard’s sold-out concert series at Södra Teatern.

Kim Persson – Holds a master’s degree from KMH, is a board member of the Taube and Olle Adolphson societies, and is currently in the national spotlight with the newly released album Visans trotjänare, which has recently received acclaim in Lira and Opulens and been played on P2 and P4.

William Bülow O'Nils – Acclaimed folk singer whose debut album (on which he interprets Ruben Nilson) was named “Song of the Year” by music magazine Lira.
