Riga Tiger + Vurpa

When Riga Tiger release their fifth studio album “Med stor makt kommer stora fördelar” this autumn, the band will continue doing what they have effectively become known for – realist pop. Pop music about people who exist, live and do their best to get through everyday life.

The day after the album’s release, they will celebrate with a gig at Debaser Nova – on 26 September, to be precise.

Since their 2017 debut album “Jag håller inte med om din åsikt och är beredd att döda dig för den”, Riga Tiger have moved through a musical landscape where emotions are heightened not by grand gestures, but by precise observation. This is music that puts life’s more modest moments centre stage. The fact that a few years have passed between album releases this time may also reflect a different stage of life, where creativity has to find its own pockets of time.

“We squeeze songwriting into coffee breaks and when the family is asleep. How can that possibly turn into an album? It sounds unlikely. But Kevin sits in his bay window, Nils has written about family life (don’t worry, only one song made it onto the album), Anton struggles to let go of old grievances, Linnéa has a groovy song in the works, Hjalmar may be keeping the best to himself (we suspect), and Karl mostly wants to work on films,” the band explain.

“Med stor makt kommer stora fördelar” is released on 25 September and will be followed by Realismpopen var aldrig död Tour 2026, which stops at Debaser on 26 September.

Vurpa are a Stockholm band playing indie rock with big guitars, plenty of noise and melodies that make themselves heard amid the racket. Their music moves between the loud and the subtle, with amplifiers pushed to breaking point and songs that linger. Vurpa recently released their debut album Kullen jag dör på. They are now confirmed to open the evening for Riga Tiger at Debaser.
