Love is the strongest of forces. It constantly lays claim to humanity’s endeavours. It is the ultimate goal of almost every effort; it has an adverse influence on the most important affairs, interrupts the most serious pursuits every hour and confounds even the greatest thinkers.

No subject, therefore, appears as frequently in art as love. The artistic idea behind this project is to portray all the colours of love – its pain, joy, longing and despair.

Backlura has drawn on music from different cultures, genres and eras. There are standards from the American Songbook, classical German pieces, French chansons and Mexican rancheras, arranged for jazz trio, accordion and vocals. This music conveys how, regardless of our earthly form, our cultural background or our place in time and history, we are all equal in our trepidation and longing to love and be loved.

The greatest of all is love.
