Gösta Berlings saga – film och konsert

A film classic. A new soundtrack. A unique live experience. What happens when one of Swedish cinema’s greatest classics meets newly composed live music?

Together with Jonas Jonasson, known for his work with the legendary bob hund, silent film duo YoJuliet have created an entirely new soundtrack for Gösta Berlings saga. The result is a powerful, beautiful and at times wild performance in which Selma Lagerlöf’s world comes to life anew before the audience.

In recent years, YoJuliet have made a name for themselves with their innovative silent film accompaniments at festivals in Sweden, Denmark and Turkey. Now they take on one of the most beloved and grandest works in Swedish film history – the restored version of Mauritz Stiller’s 1924 masterpiece.

The premiere in spring 2024 made a strong impression on the audience. Actor Pernilla August described the experience like this:

“It was so fantastic! It was completely unique. And with the live music – I was completely blown away! I never in my life thought a silent film would have that effect on me, but it was absolutely incredible!”

The screening is presented in collaboration with Värnamo Filmhistoriska festival.
