Nattorienterarna

Vera and Bricken, as our heroines are called, cannot hear what they themselves are singing. They are not strangers, but nor are they friends. Perhaps they are rivals in love?

It is hard to say when reality has clothed itself in a different language and all the mothers have reverted to childhood. Darkness falls. Are we alone here?

Nattorienterarna is not a play about sport. Nor is it a documentary portrayal in the conventional sense. But my experience as a typing teacher has certainly come in useful. Neither Bricken nor Vera works at Byängsskolan any longer. Gillis Ignell and Rune Nylander have retired, and I dare not speculate on what Stickan Ogebratt gets up to in the boiler room these days. I want the drama to continue when the play is over. And I want the word "escapism" to mean not escaping from reality, but letting it take flight. – Kristina Lugn
