They come from France, Poland or England. They are the daughters of princes or the children of prison guards. They enjoy privileges and are assigned duties that are hard to imagine. Some spend their entire lives with their husbands; others are widows for more than fifty years.

Some transform Swedish history through their influence on art, politics and ideals. Others are almost entirely forgotten today, reduced to a footnote in the stories of their husbands.

What they have in common is that they were once Queen of Sweden. Livrustkammaren now invites you to two evenings where we offer a brief, accessible introduction to who they were. Each and every one of them. At the second session, we cover the queens from Ulrika Eleonora the Younger in the Age of Liberty through to Queen Louise in the era of Sweden’s welfare state.
