Girls in Airports
A Danish trio that dissolves the boundaries between jazz, ambient and folk music in immersive live performances.
Girls in Airports from Denmark are known for their immersive and transformative live performances. Their instrumental sound moves fluidly between jazz, ambient and folk traditions. Their music is shaped by a collective practice that values curiosity, cultural openness and the slow craft of making music together.
At the heart of the group is a distinctive instrumentation: vintage keyboards, saxophone and free-flowing, versatile percussion. The iconic warmth of Mathias Holm’s Wurlitzer, sculpted through analogue pedals, blends with Victor Dybbroe’s ever-expanding palette of worldly textures and rhythms, creating a vibrant foundation for the music. Above this, Martin Stender’s saxophone voice and compositions lean towards the spiritual – sometimes calm and spacious, sometimes ecstatic and lively.
Over more than a decade of touring Europe and Asia, Girls in Airports have developed a rare form of collective creativity: a musical language built on deep listening, trust and connection – within the band and with the audience. Their concerts often unfold as journeys, inviting listeners into heightened states of presence.
