”Någon ropar långt ifrån” – a tribute to Olle Adolphson A warm welcome to a concert in which four of the brightest young rising stars on the Swedish folk-song scene – William Sundman Sääf, Jenny Almsenius, Kim Persson and William Bülow O´Nils – take on Olle’s rich and

multifaceted repertoire.

The concert will explore the boundary between tradition and renewal, with lyrics and melodies performed with deep respect for Olle’s original spirit, but also in fresh, contemporary and personal reinterpretations.

Olle Adolphson’s musical world encompassed everything, and this evening promises the full emotional spectrum. The audience will encounter life-affirming, exuberant and humorous songs, alongside sombre, dark tales of human failings and the bleaker aspects of life.

Most of the songs will be by Olle, but there will also be works by Bellman, Taube and Ruben Nilsson, giants of Swedish song whom Olle himself loved and interpreted throughout his long career. How do they speak to one another? And what do they have to say to us today?

About the performers:

William Sundman Sääf – Has enjoyed great success with his videos from the Stockholm metro, supported Håkan Hellström and sold out Södra teatern. An interpreter of Bellman and a songwriter.

Jenny Almsenius – Recently received the prestigious Olle Adolphson scholarship from Kungliga Musikaliska Akademien and is currently in the spotlight after appearing in David Ritschard’s sold-out concert series at Södra Teatern.

Kim Persson – Holds a master’s degree from KMH, is a board member of Taube- och Olle Adolphson-sällskapet and is currently attracting national attention with the newly released album Visans trotjänare, which has recently been praised in Lira and Opulens and played on P2 and P4.

William Bülow O’Nils – An acclaimed folk-song artist whose debut album (featuring his interpretations of Ruben Nilson) was named ”Årets visa” by music magazine Lira.
