Livrustkammaren, Stockholm
Riddarmaskerad på Livrustkammaren
-It’s finally time for this year’s big Riddarmaskerad! Riddarklubben, Livrustkammaren’s children’s programme, welcomes you to Livrustkammaren, so comb your hair, put on your finest princess dress or suit of knight’s armour and join in an action-packed day of history!
Gyklaren LuQas will be there to entertain the whole family! The show is designed to be performed in streets and squares, just as a jester’s show might have been in the Middle Ages. Enjoy juggling, improvisation and impressive tricks, all spiced up with a generous helping of humour. A must for the WHOLE family. After the show, there will be an opportunity to try juggling.
You’ll also meet jesters from the well-known Gycklargruppen TRiX, who will treat you to crazy feats and playful humour! With one foot in the street theatre tradition and the other in improvisational theatre, they present an outrageous circus show packed with daring stunts, humour and silliness for children and adults alike.
The dance group Pied en l’air is visiting Livrustkammaren, where you’ll get to meet Queen Christina’s dancing master, Antoine Beaulieu. He will demonstrate how to walk and stand, and how to put on and take off your hat, at the French king’s court in Paris.
You might even get to try a few dance steps, because if you can’t dance, you’re not a true noble, says the Queen…
All children can have their faces beautifully painted with royal designs by face painter Kristina Aspén in Stensalen.
If you fancy coffee and a bite to eat, Grillska Huset is running a café in Stensalen, which overlooks the Royal Palace.
There will be more activities on site
• Drottning Malin will be ready on her throne to knight the children, so you can already start thinking about what knightly name you’d like!
• Do you like cold steel? Don’t worry. We have that too. A child’s suit of armour that fits children aged 4–10. Take the opportunity to try out historical helmets and swords too.
• Look extra splendid with historical make-up. Please note: no lead!
• Do you like dressing up? We’ve got that covered. You can try on child-sized versions of the Swedish national costume, knight’s tunics and princess dresses.
• Do you enjoy crafts? Of course you can do those too! Make your own crown or folding fan.
• Curious about Livrustkammaren? Your ticket includes free admission to the museum for the whole day.
Unfortunately, pushchairs cannot be taken into the museum’s exhibitions. There are a few spaces for pushchairs near the museum entrance, as well as a designated area outside on Slottsbacken.
A very warm welcome!
