Bear Garden

Saxophone, hard-hitting drums and choral vocals woven together with influences from hip-hop, pop, psychedelia and jazz!

On 16 May, the acclaimed Bear Garden returns to Debaser – and anyone who was at the 20th anniversary celebrations in 2022 knows this is an artist to experience live.

Behind the project is Gällivare-born Martin Wirén, who found his voice through the saxophone at an early age and has made his mark in both the USA and Europe in recent years, with shows in London, Madrid and Copenhagen. The band has attracted attention through airplay on BBC 6 Music, where their music was named Beat of the Week, as well as on the American station KEXP. Around the release of the previous album, BBC 6 Music also shared a social media post about the making of the track Up, while the track Earth went viral on TikTok with 3.4 million views.

In Sweden, things have really started to gather momentum, with reviews in several major Scandinavian publications – five stars in GAFFA, high ratings from Jan Gradvall in Dagens Industri and airplay on P3 – and it is with great pleasure that we welcome Bear Garden back to Debaser Nova this autumn.
