Archspire are coming to Kollektivet Livet on 19 November with “Too Fast To Die” behind them. Their fifth album, their first fully independent release and yet another argument for why they remain one of the most outrageous bands in modern tech death. The follow-up to the Juno-winning “Bleed the Future” pushes their signature sound even further into madness: more speed, more precision, more total control, but still with enough hooks to ensure it never becomes an empty display of technical prowess.

Since 2009, Archspire have pushed their own extremism to an almost absurd point. The rap-like vocal frenzy, the neoclassical precision, the blasting drums and riffs that feel programmed for an audience who think Meshuggah are just the beginning – it is all there. But what makes Archspire so relevant is that they do not just play faster than almost everyone else. They play with purpose. With intensity. With a sense that every song actually wants to be more than a technical meltdown on steroids.

“Too Fast To Die” is the first album with Spencer Moore behind the drums and the first Archspire record the band have released entirely on their own, following a crowdfunding campaign that raised nearly 400,000 Canadian dollars in 30 days. That audience engagement says a great deal about where the band are right now: Archspire are not some cult name on the fringes; they are one of the leading and most talked-about bands in modern technical death metal today.
