A comedy produced at speed without state funding, created by Gertrud Larsson, now back in Stockholm!

Gertrud, Anna-Lena and Frida want to stage a satirical show about Swedish cultural policy. They try in vain to fund their idea. MP Roland Utbult (KD) explains that they should do exactly what the composer Tjajkovskij once did: find a patron! In Skarpnäck, there is a Russian gangster with an interest in culture who is happy to provide funding – in exchange for certain favours…

Mecenatens återkomst revels in fast cash, homemade bombs and violent, sudden death. Experience private funding at its most brutal, to the strains of broadside ballads, Tjajkovskij and sacred classics. The show is a black comedy, divinely inspired by the parliamentary debate on the culture budget held on 4 December 2024.

Mecenatens återkomst is written and directed by Gertrud Larsson. The cast features Gertrud Larsson, Anna-Lena Efverman and Jenny Svenberg.
