Old meets new in acclaimed Christmas concert

For the eleventh time, Magnus Carlsson is touring with “Änglarnas tid”. He tells Nöje.se what makes the 2026 Christmas tour special.

For ten years, Magnus Carlsson has brought Christmas spirit to audiences with his “Änglarnas tid” tour – a concert that is usually performed in churches.

“To begin with, we performed this concert almost exclusively in churches. It has a very atmospheric, expansive sound, so it works really well in those kinds of venues. These days, though, we’ve also started playing concert halls,” says Magnus Carlsson.

What can audiences expect from this year’s Christmas concert?

“This year is a little special because my first solo album, which was also a Christmas album, is 25 years old. So I’ve chosen to focus a little more on that record, called “En ny jul”. There are actually several songs on it that I haven’t performed live before, and I’m planning to include them this time. Alongside the classics, of course!”

Magnus Carlsson says that “Änglarnas tid” has always been a mix of old and new, but there’s no doubt that the tour has a Christmas theme.

“Änglarnas tid” is a 100 per cent Christmas concert – it always has been and always will be. I love classic Christmas music, but at the same time I try to mix in some newly written material. This is the eleventh year I’ve been touring with “Änglarnas tid”, and it gets refreshed a little every year,” he says.

The staging of the concert is also important. The interplay between sound and lighting helps audiences enjoy it both visually and musically. The aim is to help the audience slow their breathing a little and find some calm amid the Christmas rush.

“Many people are stressed to the rafters with everything that needs to be done and fitted in before Christmas. Here, you can sit down and take a breath, and let us look after you for a couple of hours,” says Magnus Carlsson.

The Christmas tour opens on 20 November at Gustav Adolfs kyrka in Borås. Below you’ll find all the tour dates, and you can also use the link to book your tickets directly through Ticketmaster.
