Johan Borgh
Johan Borgh is the guitarist who has made a name for himself online with his slide playing. He was the first recipient of the Schaffer-stipendiet in 2024, and has also won Lee Ritenour’s guitar competition Six String Theory.
He has also joined blues legend Gary Clark Jr as a guest at a sold-out Berns. In 2025, he made his solo debut with the album Island Blues, which attracted coverage from both Guitar World and Vintage Guitar Magazine, among others, and received a positive review in Lira. The music has been described as a bubbling brew of raw, rattling blues, Afro-Cuban rhythms and New Orleans swing. At its heart is Borgh’s assured and impressive guitar playing – virtuosic, with the slide taking centre stage, yet leaving room for the compositions and the other musicians to shine.
His solo band features some of the country’s finest musicians, with a strong focus on the joy of playing and spontaneity that appeals equally to fellow musicians and those who simply come to listen to live music. When this group takes to the stage, they promise a dynamic live show where anything can happen!
The band consists of:
Noa Svensson on drums (Benjamin Ingrosso, Viktor Leksell and others)
Axel Fagerberg on percussion (Bo Kaspers, Benjamin Ingrosso, Dave Weckl and others)
Balthazar Samuelsson on bass (Sabina Ddumba, Cornelia Jakobs and others)
Niklas Medin on piano (Nils Landgren, Roffe Wikström and others)
Axel Berntzon on horns (The Real Group and others)
