Artist: Sondre Lerche (solo) Date: Tuesday 3 November Venue: Hus 7 Doors: 19.00 Live from: approx. 20.00 Age restriction: 18+ / 13+ when accompanied by a parent or guardian Sondre Lerche has always been a romantic.
Whether through the songs he wrote as a teenager for his critically acclaimed 2001 debut album Faces Down, composing music for films such as Dan in Real Life, or portraying the lovelorn Christian in the Norwegian stage production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical.
In 2026, however, his view of love is tinged with rebellion. Lerche hinted at this new era with Turning Up The Heat Again, an EP released earlier this year that served as a fresh start – a way to set the direction and introduce the next chapter in his musical journey.
Now, in its full form, the result is his eleventh studio album, Acrobats – a suite of eight songs that moves between joy and introspection, loss and love.
“There is a dissonance between the increasingly dystopian world we live in and finding beauty and peace in your private life. It feels almost like a paradox that I have been lucky enough to find myself in a life and a love that are so meaningful and genuine. At the same time, it feels impossible to write a love song without taking into account the unspeakable things happening in the world. Falling in love feels more and more like an act of defiance.”
Recorded in nine different studios with a wide range of creative collaborators, Acrobats is a reflective follow-up to 2022’s Avatars of Love (“sumptuously orchestrated pop from a Norwegian master craftsman” – 9/10 in Uncut), but no less full of passion. Lerche sees himself as the album’s “curator” and has invited musician friends both old and new to create delicate soundscapes. Contributors include his long-standing producers Matias Téllez and Kato Ådland, clarinettist Solveig Wang, saxophonist Jonas Hamre, singer Veslemøy Narvesen (who is also one of Norway’s leading jazz drummers), double bassist Ole Morten Vågan, trombonist Emil Bø, and his long-standing band: Dave Heilman on drums, Chris Holm on bass and Alexander von Mehren on keyboards.
In November, Sondre Lerche will embark on his first solo tour of Europe in more than four years. The tour visits cities in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, the Netherlands, the UK, Sweden and Denmark (the Copenhagen show takes place on 14 October). Tickets are available via sondrelerche.com.
