Dundertåget
Following their acclaimed return at Sweden Rock Festival, Dundertåget are coming to Stockholm for a long-awaited concert at Debaser Strand.
What was originally meant to be a single, exclusive reunion became something more. After the enthusiastic response to this summer’s Sweden Rock performance and strong demand for more concerts, Dundertåget have now decided to play another show – on home turf in Stockholm. On 5 December, Dundertåget will take to the stage at Debaser Strand.
– We hadn’t really planned to do anything beyond Sweden Rock. But after the show, we felt that the joy of playing together was still there. It was a very special feeling to be back on stage, and when we then realised how much people wanted to see us play, we started thinking. In the end, it felt right to do a few more shows. This is also a way for us to play songs we love ourselves, while honouring the memory of Strängen, the band say.
Dundertåget were formed in 2004 by Robert ”Strängen” Dahlqvist, alongside his role at the time as guitarist in The Hellacopters. Under the name Thunder Express, the band released their first two albums before changing their name to Dundertåget. In total, they released four albums between 2004 and 2010. The band’s music draws on classic rock, blues, garage and power pop and has gained cult status among Swedish rock fans over the years.
Dundertåget quickly became one of the most highly regarded names in Swedish rock and built a strong following with their energetic live performances. Dundertåget disbanded in 2012, and five years later Robert ”Strängen” Dahlqvist tragically passed away, aged just 40.
The band consisted of Robert ”Strängen” Dahlqvist, Robert Pehrsson, Jens Lagergren and Jesper Karlsson
The reunion show at Sweden Rock was a tribute to Strängen and featured guest musicians including Lars Winnerbäck, Stefan Sundström, Kristina Karlsson, Nicke Andersson, Pelle ”Hellbutcher” Gustavsson and Strängen’s daughter, Ingrid Dahlqvist. The set drew on Dundertåget’s rich catalogue and consisted of songs the band themselves had loved playing over the years.
Dundertåget’s music was made to be played loud, together and in front of an audience. Now some of those songs will once again have the chance to do just that.
