Following screenings at the Berlin film festival and Bergmanveckan, Doggerland has become particularly relevant to the current cultural debate. With a personal focus on the conditions of everyday life in his home town of Norrköping, Ekberg offers nuanced and moving perspectives on the role of culture in society.

Through both its setting and the real-life mother–son relationship between the film’s main characters, Alf and Monika, Doggerland also raises thought-provoking questions about the boundary between reality and fiction. In the director’s own words, the story of Alf and Monika is a modernised echo of the classic social democratic slogan ‘everyone should be included’.

The film will be followed by an on-stage discussion, as well as music and mingling in Bar Lido.

A warm welcome to an evening focusing on analogue film in the context of contemporary culture!
