Eric Ericsons kammarkör: Nattsånger – en stund av stillhet
As the day draws to a close and silence settles, Eric Ericsons Kammarkör invites you to take a moment to unwind, where your thoughts can grow still and the music becomes a breathing space before night falls.
Together with conductor Olof Boman, we find a bright spot in the November darkness: a short programme centred on stillness, warmth and reflection.
Music from different eras and traditions comes together here in a shared nocturnal soundscape, from the medieval mysticism of Hildegard von Bingen and Heliga Birgitta to the meditative tones of our time by Arvo Pärt, Paul Mealor and James MacMillan.
The programme also includes the Romanticism of Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy, the sensual richness of Jean-Yves Daniel-Lesur’s sound and the vibrant presence of Sven-David Sandström.
Together, they form a gentle flow of music, sometimes like a whisper, sometimes like a warm choral sound filling the room.
When Eric Ericson founded Eric Ericsons Kammarkör in 1945, he laid the foundations for an ensemble that would shape Swedish choral life for generations.
Since then, the choir has established itself as one of the world’s leading ensembles in its field.
With a repertoire spanning early vocal music to contemporary compositions, it has become known for its stylistic breadth, precision and distinctive sound.
