Kompani Giraff - The Pile

The audience hit “The Pile” is back! Don’t miss this flexible circus performance about an unruly pile and the longing to break free.

Three impossibly flexible circus artists navigate an unruly pile.

They change shape, dissolve and reinvent themselves in astonishing formations.

Through circus, humour and magic, The Pile explores the tension between wanting to belong and longing to break free.

Kompani Giraff invites young audiences to a performance inspired by an absurdist and surrealist artistic tradition.

Through spectacular, movement-based fabric sculptures, it explores existential themes of growth, resistance and liberation.

The performance is recommended for children of middle-school age and their adults. “The Pile” is co-produced by Dansens Hus and presented in collaboration with Dansistan.

Running time: 45 minutes.

Stockholm-based Kompani Giraff traces its roots back to the turn of the millennium, with the legendary variety show Salong Giraff at Orionteatern in Stockholm.

One of the creative forces behind the show, circus artist Viktoria Dalborg, decided to carry on the legacy and founded Kompani Giraff.

She joined forces with magician Axel Adlercreutz and fashion designer Sus Soddu.

Together with a hand-picked ensemble, the three artistic directors create unique performances featuring the visual elegance, gentle magic and ingenious choreography that are now the hallmarks of Kompani Giraff.

The company creates visual and distinctive circus performances with a passion for the magic of everyday life.

Its playful visual language brings contemporary circus, magic and object manipulation together in a theatrical universe unlike any other.

Kompani Giraff has previously presented “Moln” (2022) and “A Study of Losses” (2024) at Dansens Hus. “The Pile” had its world premiere in March 2026 at Dansens Hus, and in spring 2027 it will return for another run.
