Adam Seid Tahir – and from their hair, unending forest

“and from their hair, unending forest” takes the rune Thurisaz (ᚦ) as its starting point. The rune is associated with giants, beings portrayed in Norse mythology as enemies of the gods and linked to chaos, threat and otherness.

Adam Seid Tahir examines these attributed qualities and draws parallels with the marginalisation of Black people. At the centre of the work is the figure of Ymir, an intersex being who, according to myth, was killed and whose body gave rise to the world.

Through the geography of death and the afterlife, and the non-linear nature of time, the stage becomes a world of metamorphoses: a place where the body becomes weather, hair becomes unending forests, and anger, sorrow and longing intertwine. “and from their hair, unending forest” invites the audience into an atmospheric world of myth and legend.
