Japansk bokbindning Orihon

In this workshop, you will learn the traditional Japanese bookbinding technique with an accordion-fold structure, known as Orihon.

Orihon is a style of bookbinding that has existed in Japan since the 11th century and is still used today for Buddhist sutras and Goshuin-cho, books for collecting temple stamps. Japanese patterned paper, known as Chiyo-gami, is used for the covers of the books made in the workshop.

Workshop leader Miro Burman is a bookbinder who trained as an art educator at Konstfack. Her specialities are Japanese bookbinding, Japanese paper and paper construction. She has experience leading workshops at various art schools and museums.
