Josef Slunge

A lot has happened since Josef Slunge last packed Bar Brooklyn to the rafters.

Since then, he has released “Zoey” with Håkan Hellström, made guest appearances at concerts by both Hellström and Cleo, and continued to establish himself as one of the most exciting voices on Sweden’s new music scene.

This autumn, he returns to Debaser with a brand-new album under his belt.

Few artists in Sweden today have followed their own inspiration as naturally as Josef Slunge. Just a few years into his career, he has moved between different forms of expression and formats without losing the essence of the storytelling that drives him forward.

His debut album ikväll, inatt, men aldrig imorgon earned him attention from P3, Aftonbladet, Nöjesguiden, Göteborgs-Posten and Gaffa, among others. The mixtape “I LOVE YOU” followed, before his duet with Håkan Hellström brought his music to an even wider audience.

The forthcoming album marks the beginning of a new chapter. Together with Gustav Olea Aspenrot, Slunge has developed a more organic, band-based sound, with songs taking shape through collaboration and making music together. The result is music that feels more intimate, rawer and more alive, centred on stories of relationships, identity, escape and belonging.
