Systrarna på Sophiahemmet

Author Ruth Kvarnström-Jones is now releasing the third book in the Stockholms pärlor series. Hear her tell the story of the women who helped establish Sophiahemmet in the late 19th century.

In 1883, Queen Sophia summons her closest confidants to a secret meeting at Kungliga slottet. She has a bold vision of founding a nursing school in the spirit of Florence Nightingale.

Eventually, Sophiahemmet is established, becoming a place where women have the chance to take on greater responsibility during a time of major social and medical change.
