Bach / Ranelid / Rydvall / Härenstam - Människan är ett mirakel!
Bach / Ranelid / Rydvall / Härenstam - Människan är ett mirakel! With music by J.S.
Bach and texts by Björn Ranelid!
Author Björn Ranelid takes us on an inner journey with his characteristic, moving language, while two of Sweden’s finest musicians, nyckelharpa player Erik Rydvall and classical guitarist David Härenstam, interweave music by J.
S.
Bach.
Experience a unique concert where literature and music come together in an encounter between life’s deepest questions and the timeless power of music.
The concert is based on the music of J.S.
Bach, with sonatas, partitas and cello suites given a new form in arrangements for nyckelharpa and guitar.
We will hear, among other works, Sonata in E minor, BWV 1023, Flute Sonata in C major, BWV 1033, and parts of the mighty Partita in D minor, BWV 1004.
In these works, Bach’s refined counterpoint is woven together with Swedish polskas, hallings, waltzes and Björn Ranelid’s texts.
The result is both surprising and inevitable. --- Erik Rydvall, nyckelharpa, is one of the world’s foremost nyckelharpa players and a musician who innovatively brings together the expression of Baroque music and the Nordic folk music tradition.
With his background in Swedish folk music and training at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm, he has developed a distinctive, virtuosic style that brings out the nyckelharpa’s full range of tonal colours.
As a soloist, Rydvall has performed with, among others, Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble, Musica Vitae and Dalasinfoniettan.
He has also appeared in several international film and television productions in Hollywood, where his playing has helped create unique soundscapes.
Björn Ranelid, recitation, is one of Sweden’s foremost authors and cultural figures.
He made his debut in 1983 with the novel Den överlevande trädgårdsmästaren and has since published around thirty books, including novels, essays and autobiographical works characterised by poetic language and existential intensity.
He was awarded the August Prize in 1994 for Synden and has also received Aftonbladet’s Literary Prize.
Ranelid is also a frequent commentator and a prominent stage personality.
He is known for his passion, rhetorical brilliance and unwavering belief in love as the force that sustains life!
David Härenstam, classical guitar, has toured as a soloist and chamber musician in China, Australia and Europe after completing an Advanced Diploma with Professor John Mills at the Royal Welsh College of Music.
He is known for his many successful recordings, which have prompted critics to write “one of the leading guitarists of his generation” or, as Classical Guitar Magazine (USA) put it: “Technical wizardry”.
David is also artistic director of three chamber music festivals.
