Tyresta Nationalpark
Unspoilt nature and seclusion – a stone’s throw from Stockholm.
Tyresta Nationalpark, one of the country’s largest untouched forest areas outside the Swedish mountains, is just 20 kilometres from central Stockholm. Here you can walk through some of the finest primeval forest south of the River Dalälven.
Covering almost 2,000 hectares, the park is characterised by pine and spruce forests, with a varied landscape of rocky outcrops and valleys. The national park is surrounded by Tyresta Naturreservat, which allows a much wider range of outdoor activities.
Tyresta By, whose origins date back to the Viking Age, serves as the main entrance to the national park. The village has a rest cabin with barbecue facilities and refreshments. It is also home to Naturum Nationalparkernas Hus, with exhibitions and information about the area.
