Workshop: Handgripligt
Patch & mend with Matsson Marnell In this workshop, you can try different techniques and learn to mend and reinforce textiles with patches, embroidery and visible mending. A repair can both extend a garment’s life and become a form of creative expression.
Taking care of what we have – such as being able to mend and care for our clothes – is a natural part of emergency preparedness and has been an important part of everyday life throughout history. Resources have often been limited in the past, not just during crises and wars. Even today, mending is a practical skill that can contribute to both sustainability and greater preparedness.
Together, we explore how mending can be both a practical skill and a form of creative expression, and how crafts and practical skills can strengthen the resilience of both individuals and society. The workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with previous experience. No prior knowledge is needed.
The workshop is led by Magda Marnell from the design studio Matsson Marnell. The studio works at the intersection between art, design and craft, with a focus on reuse, natural materials and circular ways of working.
Materials, refreshments and admission to the museum are included in the ticket. Places are limited.
