Reading: The Meat Kings (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights

At Cafarelli & Sons, an iconic butcher’s in the heart of New York, one thing is certain: no one’s job is safe. Owner Paula is struggling to keep the business alive. For her staff, the stakes are getting ever higher – by the end of the season, one of them will be out.

And the job market is hardly crying out for people with their background. Loyalties shift, alliances are formed and broken. How far are they prepared to go in pursuit of a better life?

“The Meat Kings! (Inc.) of Brooklyn Heights” is a sharp, charming and brutal story about the reality behind the American dream. And about how, despite everything, moments of warmth and belonging can still shine through amid the hardship.
