A TOUR THROUGH THE PERMANENT EXHIBITION AT THE MUSEUM OF RECENT TRACES OF HUMANITY "Thank you for coming. How lovely to see you. A very warm welcome to a tour you won’t forget in a hurry…”
SPÅR moves through human history, into our present, straight into the future and back again — fragments of life reconstructed before our eyes: Mary Shelley conceives the idea of Frankenstein’s monster, a boy loses a finger in a factory, a small family unpacks their first home computer, a bullied child seeks comfort in an AI, a young actress enlarges her nose to compete, a young man is horny as hell even though the world is about to end.
Tiny fragments of human life, in a way you’ve never seen before, with an ever-present question: what makes you human? And if you no longer existed, what would have been lost?
Jordan Harrison’s acclaimed play is urgent, beautiful and profoundly moving, and a follow-up to his Pulitzer-nominated Broadway hit Prima Liv (Marjorie Prime). It is Playhouse’s biggest production ever — with nine actors on stage — and is directed by Adam Greenfield, artistic director of Playwrights Horizons in New York. Translation by Bengt Ohlsson.
