Joel Alme

Joel Alme is heading out on a solo tour this spring! This summer, Joel Alme played his biggest concert ever on the main stage at Way Out West. Now it is time to do the opposite.

After more than 250 gigs with his loyal backing band, Alme is embarking on a solo tour, sharing the stories behind the lyrics.

This is how the songs were written, and this is how you will hear them, says Joel Alme.

After three critically acclaimed albums in English, Joel Alme made his major breakthrough with the Swedish-language album Flyktligan in 2015. The album was a deeply personal reckoning with his childhood and class background that both broadened Joel’s audience and earned standing ovations from the press. It also marked the beginning of a new era in Alme’s songwriting and artistry.

Flyktligan was followed by Bort Bort Bort (2019), Sköt er själva så sköter jag inte mitt (2022) and Gullmars Gospel (2026). Together, the four albums form a narrative woven from memories of a life that can best be described as cinematic in its epic sweep. Although Joel Alme’s own experiences lie at its heart, this collection of songs is just as much about the lives of the people around him and the places that belong to them.

These are the very stories that take centre stage as Joel strips his songs down to their bare essentials.

The connections between the songs emerge. The stories behind the lyrics are told. A concert with Joel Alme is always an emotionally powerful experience. This time, it will reach deeper into the audience’s hearts than ever before.
